Return to campus concerns

 

– Members may have seen the Vice-Principal (Governance)’s letter of 26th August, responding to the branch committee’s open letter of 18th August and published in Issue 410 (28th Aug) of In the Loop under the title ‘Setting the record straight’. The branch committee’s response, ‘Setting the record straighter’ of 9th September, was not carried by In the Loop and is therefore attached for members to see.

– Members are also informed that the branch committee have now lodged a ‘Failure to Agree’ notice with the Vice-Principal (Governance) on the issue of the large-scale return to in-person working, including teaching. The notice asks that the University resolves the dispute by withdrawing the compulsion for staff to return to in-person, on-site work wherever remote working is possible or alternative work is available, by the 22nd September. Members will be updated on developments.
