Collective COVID stories

I would like to put an online booklet together to tell our collective stories of teaching, working and living under COVID for the past nine months – or longer as the case may be. It doesn’t matter if you are a UCU member or not, management, teaching, research, admin or technical staff, postgrads or an undergrad; this will be a record of a very difficult year for all of us.

If you have had an enlightening experience in teaching or learning online, have enjoyed working with technology and had supportive management and engaged students, I would love to hear from you. If you have struggled with TEAMs, had issues with student engagement or staff support, or simply despaired at the work load, I apologise in advance for adding to your misery by asking to tell me your experiences. Those struggling with mental health concerns, physical health problems or juggling caring duties are especially encouraged to write or dictate their story.

If you want to remain anonymous including keeping your School, (teaching or studying) class level or any other details hidden then either do that in your file or tell me to do that for the online version. Similarly, if you wish to tell me a full, difficult truth then we may need to discuss what is publicly acceptable for the online, open version.

This is just a request, with no pressure intended. Email me with the heading “COVID story”.

Much thanks in advance, and please pass this page link to anyone you think would be interested in sharing their experience.
