For all staff: Petition for a change of Spring break dates

Over the last few years with the changes in semesters, the University’s Spring break has occured in mid to late March. However, the local schools in Tayside and Fife tend to have the first two weeks in April for their Easter break.

Consequently staff, who invariably don’t have access to local relatives, have to get their teaching covered by postdocs or postgrads or alternatively, bring their children into work for those teaching hours.

So, to judge the need for a change in the University Spring vacation here is a poll, open during March 2018, for any staff in the University to add their voice (email) to a request for a change in the semester dates. The request is for at least one week to tie in with the local schools’ Easter break.

The number of votes cast will be published in April (not identifying emails). Note that the system requires you to confirm an email address in order to cast the vote, but does not store them.
