Emergency Meetings
Dear UCU St Andrews members,
Emergency general meetings to discuss new ACAS proposals
The branch will hold two meetings to allow members to discuss and express a view on the new proposals to emerge from ACAS talks between UCU and UUK.
Mon 26 March, 1pm, Purdie lecture theatre C
Tues 27 March, 1pm, Irvine lecture theatre
Members are welcome to attend both meetings, for the sake of participating in debate. But members should only participate once in the indicative raising of hands on the issues. Members who are not able to attend either meeting may e-mail Tom at tej1 to express a view on the proposals. That e-mail will need to arrive before 10am on Weds 28 March to be taken into account. A branch briefing will take place in London on Weds 28 March at which UCU St Andrews will be represented and the views of the branch put forward. Then the Higher Education Committee will meet to take any decisions relating to the industrial action that follow from the consultation with branches.
Award-winning branch
Members might like to know that UCU St Andrews was recognized with an award for organizing and building the union at UCU Scotland congress in Clydebank on Friday. This is recognition for the huge increase in our membership, and promotion of free membership to postgraduate students who teach, over the last year. The branch thanks everyone who has contributed to this growth.
