The University and College Union at The University of St Andrews

21st April: recruitment/promotion of BAME staff event

The branch is hosting an equality event on Friday 21st April 2017, at 1pm in School III, St Salvator’s Quad.
Kehinde Andrews of Birmingham City University, and a columnist for The Guardian, will be speaking on the recruitment and promotion of BAME staff under the title ‘Why isn’t my professor black? Recruitment and promotion of black, Asian and minority ethnic staff at the university’. This event follows on from a branch film screening and discussion session last year, at which staff and students shared their experiences of race in HE. At this year’s event participants will have the opportunity to share experiences about, and make suggestions for changes to, the university’s recruitment and promotion processes so that we might become more diverse.
