USS pension dispute update

Union negotiators met with employers’ representatives on the 13th November and agreed to a series of negotiating meetings between now and the next USS Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) on 15th January. The aim of these meetings will be to close the differences between negotiating positions with a view to reaching an agreement to the dispute. This will include a meeting between the respective actuaries of the USS Trustee Board, UUK, and UCU.

UCU’s higher education committee (HEC) meets on 19th November to consider UCU’s next steps. A suspension to the industrial action from 20th November until after the JNC on 15th January is being considered, so long as the suspension will mean that staff do not have pay deducted for action to date.

In the meantime the boycott action remains on.
