Pensions Dispute Suspended

A conference of UCU branches has agreed to suspend the action over USS pensions and resume negotiations on the key issue of the comparability of the USS schemes with other public sector schemes, including TPS.

St Andrews UCU voted at the conference to continue and escalate the action in support of better offer from the employers, in line with motions passed at general meetings here at the end of January, but the decision to suspend was carried by 66 votes to 41.

The suspension is not open-ended and UCU is prepared to resume action when and if necessary
