The University and College Union at The University of St Andrews

Pay award for 2012

Employers have offered you a pay increase of 1% – significantly below inflation yet again.  All of the trade unions that represent staff in HE have said that this is not enough.  All five of the HE trade unions are now in the process of balloting members for industrial action.  The UCU ballot is now open.

You should have received ballot papers by now. If you have not, please follow this link: https://www.ucu.org.uk/nohepayballot to request a duplicate set of papers. The ballot closes on Wednesday 10 October.

We are holding an Open Meeting on WEDNESDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER, 1pm – 2pm in the School VI Lecture Theatre.  We will give you an update on the pay situation and where we are in the current negotiations.  We want to know what you feel about it.  Should we accept a 1% offer? Should we take strike action in pursuit of a higher claim? What level of pay rise do you think would be acceptable?  What sort of industrial action do you think would be effective? PLEASE come along to the meeting – it’s open to all so feel free to bring your colleagues.
