HE Pay and conditions – Members vote to ballot for action
After UCU members voted by 70% to 30% to reject the employers’ offer of 1% on all pay points, the union has asked the employers for further talks to resolve the dispute and the Higher Education Committee has approved the move to a ballot should such talks fail to result in an acceptable offer.
Prior to any ballot, it is essential that we ensure that our branch records are as up to date as possible on the national membership database. The key elements in preparation for industrial action ballots are your workplace name and location (eg School of Physics & Astronomy, North Haugh), your employment category (eg, Academic/Lecturer/Tutor or Management etc). IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THIS INFORMATION IS CORRECT. Failure on our part to provide this information accurately may result in our ballot being challenged.
Please take a few minutes to check your membership record online at www.members.ucu.org.uk
If you would like Susan, our administrator, to check or amend your records for you please contact her by email on sm247@st-andrews.ac.uk as soon as possible. The deadline for updating the membership records is Friday 10 August.
